Robert L. HoodRobert L. Hood has been a resident of Nevada since 1965, having lived in Las Vegas, Elko and, for the last 30 years, here in Douglas County, in Jack’s Valley. Prior to becoming a Nevadan, he grew up in Hollywood, California, graduating Hollywood High School, then off to Utah State University, spending summers in Newport Beach, Europe and Las Vegas before graduating in 1968, with a BA in English and History. After a four year stint in the U.S. Air Force, and a year in Thailand, he returned to Nevada, married, and looking for interesting work. "We bought our first house, in Jack’s Valley in 1973, and 30 years later, we’re still in it – obviously there’s something we like about the area!" Bob has a solid background as a business owner, former business development professional in Nevada banking, and mortgage lending. He even found time to go back to college at the University of Nevada, later in life, for graduate work and credentials for a secondary teaching license, and did work in local high schools teaching and coaching tennis, during a five year period. As education director for a non-profit agency, he developed a seminar program for first time homebuyers in Northern Nevada. That work led to his becoming an exclusively buyer’s agent in residential real estate in the Reno, Carson City and Minden/Gardnerville markets. After spending a lot of time commuting to and from Reno over the years, he decided it was time to stay closer to home finally, and stay involved in local business and real estate only. "The Carson Valley is a great place to live, raise a family or retire, and enjoy an easy-going lifestyle – western style! It’s always fun to tell people about this valley and talk about the local Basque heritage and other European influence on our local culture. So leave the harried big city “attitudes” and stress at home, as many others have done, and see what a real difference Nevada living might make in YOUR life!"
